Small Potatoes... * began performing together in 1992. * began touring in 1993. * has performed 2000 shows (as of Jan 2002), and traveled over a half a million miles through 48 states and Canada. * Were the first Chicago-based act since the legendary Steve Goodman to be invited to perform at the Philadelphia Folk Festival when they appeared there in 1996. They've been back to the festival twice (1998 and 2001) since then. * Were winners of the 1998 Kerrville New Folk Songwriting Contest (Jacquie, actually--this was the first and only songwriting contest she ever entered). * Were winners of the 1999 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival's Most Requested Artist Showcase. * Performed three years in a row at the Kerrville Folk Festival (1999-2001), considered by many to be the ultimate "Songwriter's Festival." They have also performed five years in a row at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, KS (1997-2001), considered by many to be the ultimate "Picker's festival"--two very different audiences with different tastes. Very few acts are asked to play at both of these festivals in the same summer. No other act in recent memory has played them both for three years in a row (...and they tell us an act with too much musical variety has limited market appeal...). * Voted Best of Bound for Glory for the year 2000. Bound for Glory is a weekly concert/live radio broadcast hosted by Phil Shapiro on WVBR FM in Ithaca, NY. The show has been running for 35 years.
